Thinking about generational choices and three characters that I think are thematically connected in the Owl House because like. Belos, Darius, and Luz were all silly guys who lost a parental figure in their life all due to different circumstances and also all felt pressure from their cultures to behave in a certain way.

Belos fell so hard into trying to get approval from his culture that he lost his loved one for real and spent the rest of his life miserable about various self-imposed things until it destroyed him.

Darius we don't know as much about, but he lost his friendships with Odalia and Alador and had to conform to a shitty group of people in an attempt to make the world better and he's struggling with the loss of a friend which caused him to isolate himself and try to protect others by staying far away, but eventually has to let people in.

And Luz spent her whole life being unable to fit in and not able to understand why she was different, and she learned to be a better person while also realizing that she doesn't need to change for the standards of a society that doesn't care about her!!

1.) not you joking that hunters my favorite character 💀😭😭 /s. nowhere near my favorite character bestie 😭😭😭.

MY FAVORITE character in all seriousness is amity or raine!!! (luz is a close tie with amity bc i was a luz kin first.) but both of their characters mean SO much to me. especially raine's. i wont go ramble heavy but a lot of the reason i love the queer characters in the show are because of the fact that their "queerness" is not made into a character trait. people acknowledge raine as who they are and dont question or think of their identity as a negative. most of the media i found growing up centered around stories about queer people and their journey to realization OF being queer, and not where they already knew. thats one of the most definitive reasons i love toh so much too.

their identities and sexualities arent a "oh theyre the gay character" or "oh thats the nonbinary one" its an extension of themselves beneath other traits. because as a queer person myself theres WAY more that makes me myself than the fact that i identify the way i do. seeing amity develop feelings on screen for luz and then choose for herself on what she wanted. breaking away from her mother and destroying the rhetoric of what was assumed and assigned onto her.

people will talk shit about it and how "amity changed for luz" or blah blah blah. but thats not entirely true. when luz met amity, she saw her as who she was. not a name. not a rich girl. she threatened her stability. the comfort. luz encouraged her in ways that no one had before. about things amity found passion in. especially Azura!! amity changed because she realized she wanted more than what her parents forced onto her. luzs carefree and comfort being WARM and encouraging to do things that SHE ENJOYED. amity changed because she wanted to be more than her parents and be happy and luz just so happened to be the catalyst of that. and raine- as a nonbinary person makes me feel so validated.

2.) uhh surprisingly ive watched s1 like a good 13 or so times??? s2 though ive only watched through fully like once when i first watched it. i did watch individual eps from s2 so its not like i hadnt watched it ONLY once. s3 at least 4 times. s1 is definitely my favorite. even if like the real plot started coming in during s2. the nostalgia of 2020 and the fandom during that time is probably my reason. s1 lumitys energy and lumity as a ship was so simple and yet different.

3.) i think the fandom forgave camila too quickly for what she did to luz. it irks me how they then turned around and "noceda siblings" became a full thing. meanwhile people forget that darius wanted the best for hunter??? "he only had _" shut up. the show was shortened!!! WHO came to hunter during s3? NOT camila. it was darius and ebber! that man is more of a candidate for a parent for hunter than camila. vee and luz as sisters? YES valid. i love that. but hunter does NOT need to be included in literally everything regarding luz. people forget that king literally called himself luzs brother. "your family now" does NOT have to mean a familial tie. there are some friends who are so close like brother and sister BUT THEY ARENT. i cant stand noceda siblings. dadrius is just something that makes sense and i like the parallel potential of it. however speaking i will not get pissy if someone enjoys it, these characters are subjective. as long as you dont tear down others favorites and are respectful i have no issue with differing of beliefs. its just for me personally i wish it wasnt so... forgetful of king and luzs siblinghood.

4.) ive covered hunter before. i don't really like him all that much just due to how fandom treats him. his character in canon is cool though. i like dadrius. its the exception. grimwalker lore still feels very interesting though.

Empress Luz AU: Obsessed with Luz finding out more about Eda and Raine's relationship. Especially that she's hearing it from Raine's perspective. A big aspect of what became the tipping point for them back then was being completely shut out by Eda who refused to accept any help while Eda was trying to suffer through her curse alone because she doesn't want to end up hurting anyone else.

Just. Raine maybe using the story as an opportunity to try to nudge Luz in the direction that confiding in people she can trust and reaching out for help is good and okay and that they're always available if she ever needs them, even if just to talk. (Just really hoping that maybe she might open up about the things Raine & Darius already found out via the mindscape)

Meanwhile, Luz just sorta zeroed in on all of the negatives of the story and how things are mirroring just a bit too closely and Eda and Raine haven't spoken in decades and the internal screaming has reached up to whistling teakettle and she's completely missing Raine trying to be supportive.

HEAD IN HANDS. THIS IS SO SWEET AND TRAGICALLY HILARIOUS AND HILARIOUSLY TRAGIC OHHH GOD.

luz being like "oh no, raine can tell that i'm keeping secrets and they're trying to nicely tell me to fuck off and even if they HAVEN'T clocked me, i should never have gotten so comfortable and i should be better at handling my stuff alone because i am emotionally unavailable and Bad :(((" is SO DEEPLY IN CHARACTER IT'S KILLING MEEE. she did almost EXACTLY the same thing to hunter, back before they worked their shit out. i am fucking yelling. GOD. LUZ MY SWEET ANGLE

it's especially interesting if luz is working semi-regularly with a still-kinda-resistant eda. and eda is definitely keeping her cards close to her chest because like HELL is she going to be emotionally vulnerable to The Fucking Empire. and so luz sees even more of herself in eda through these interactions than through raine's stories. all of eda's wariness and hesitance to trust and the way her guard only comes down during moments when luz is being disarmingly kind or excited....

i feel like in this scenario, luz WOULD eventually break down in front of raine and tell them.... well, a lot. whether she admitted to patricide would depend on the circumstances, but Certainly she'd fess up about the amount of stress she's under. luz has been playing politics really well and subtly unraveling the empire, but she's also aware that there are Enormous risks if she chooses the wrong allies or makes the wrong decisions. and the only person who Fully knows what happened or what she wants or who she is... is hunter. and hunter will bounce ideas off her and tell her if he thinks she's making a mistake, but he's also 100% loyal to whatever she decides to do. which is scary for her!

and she's sixteen. seventeen if this is a few months into her reign. seventeen is old enough to run a country if you're a YA protagonist, but Oh God the concept is Fucking Terrifying in any other genre. she's under SO MUCH PRESSUREEEE

luz knocking on the door of raine's room and barely managing to get inside before she's bursting into tears like "i asked the titan to help me and i promised i'd fix the world if he did and i don't know if i can even keep that promise i'm ruining it i killed my father and i promised not to be like him and i can't HELP being like him and i don't know what to do i don't WANT to be like him i don't want to be like this i don't want to ruin everything"

and a startled raine not even being able to calculate a response beyond just. "i know."

and luz is like.

“That’s what you get for getting wet while being at the knee”. Eda say’s hovering over you as you lay on her couch. “I didn’t intend to get wet”. You say “hoot”! Hooty says. Your eyes shut tightly and you roll over and curl in the blanket eda gave you. “Mmm im tired”. You say shutting your eyes but before you completely doze off you felt a kiss atop your head.

Waking up you saw Luz, king, and Lilith above you with a scared look. Sitting up you felt king jump on you and hug your neck, “y/n your ok”! He yells hugging him back Lilith tells you why they thought you were dead. “Where’s eda”? You asked looking for your girlfriend. “She went out to the night market”. Luz explains making a small cat drawing. About 5mis later eda opens the door and she smiles seeing you up, “hey glad to see your still alive”. She says sitting next to you and pulling something out of her bag. “Here it helps with the fever”. She says pouring the liquid in a small cup she pulls it to your mouth. “That’s nasty”. You say.

Darius

You had gotten sick by eberwolf they had a small cold and accidentally coughed on you. So now you and your friend were both sick and darius had to deal with you while raine delt with them. “Hun just drink the damn drink”. He said as you refused the drink, “no you purple goo it’s nasty”. You knew he would find the “purple goo” offensive and he did, bad move. “Alright I guess I’ll have to do this the hard way”. He says using his “goo” he tied you down. “Darius this isn’t fair”! You yell only for him to shove the medicine in your mouth.

Swallowing you groan at the taste. “Ew it’s so nasty”. You say turning away from him, “well it would have been easier if you drank it the first time”. He says only for you to stick your tongue out at him. “So childish when your sick”. He says turning out the door.

You fell asleep and woke up to him shaking you awake slowly as you rubbed the sleep from your eyes he set some soup in front of you.”here you need it”. He says sitting next to you eating his own food. “Thank you love”. You say slowly eating the food he made you. He watched you silently eat the food.

Raine

“Please eat it”. They say desperately trying to get you to eat the medication for you being sick. You curled up into a small ball hugging the pillow. “Raine I don’t want to”. You say closing your eyes. They got up trying to think them they got an idea. “Would you like some soup love”? They asked you. You nodded and they went to make some.

Coming back 5 minutes later they saw how you softly breathed in and breathed out barely awake. “Here you dear eat softly”. They set the soup in front of you and you slowly got up and they watched as you eat you didn’t know that they snuck the medicine in there. “That was good raine thank you for making I love you”. You told them your head laying on their shoulder.

Lilith (platonic)

You were at her house cause that’s when you started to notice how your head started to spin and everything went black. “Y/n wake up!” You heard lilith say after coming to you realized how you were on her couch and she had a blanket in her arms and she slowly set it on you. “Y/n you don’t look so well”. She said taking your temperature she went to grab a rag.

Coming back she saw you hold your head in pain and she put the cold rag onto your forehead. “Y/n if you need please go back to sleep”. She says with a worried expression, “ok lulu ok”. You say turning away from her and smothering your self in the couch.

Literal Perfection Chapter 5

that's right folks I'm back on my bullshit, enjoy this short Hunter based chapter while I prepare for chapter 6, which takes place at the same time as this one ;)))

Hunter wasn't stupid.

Okay, maybe he was a little stupid, but he wasn't stupid enough to not see that Darius was definitely into his new assistant.

And, honestly? Hunter didn't blame him; they're nice, funny, hardworking, competent and actually seems to care about their job, which is a huge improvement from Darius' last assistant.

However, despite how painfully obvious it was that he liked them, Darius had yet to ask his assistant out. So Hunter decided to take things into his own hands.

So he made a plan, and by the Titan was it gonna work.... hopefully.

But he couldn't set the plan into action by himself, no, he needed back up and he knew just who to call.

"I'll be back later today, Hunter", Darius called from the front door as he left for work, "Don't blow anything up, don't set anything on fire, no flying in the house, just, don't be an idiot whilst I'm gone, okay?"

"I've got it!", the ex golden guard yelled back.

The sound of the door shutting echoed through the empty cottage and Hunter waited a few moments before he was sure that Darius was gone and grabbed his scroll.

It was time to begin phase 1; planning.

Emerald Entrails

Hunter: uRget!!!!!!! Come 2 mY H0sE.... Tell n0one T0p secret!!!!

It took the emerald entrails, Luz and Amity twenty minutes to get to the cottage, a bit too long for Hunter's liking but he could make it work.

"Alright", Hunter said as the group sat down in the sitting room, "I have gathered you all here today to embark on a mission of great importance, this is a mission of life or death, are you willing to help me with this?"

A chorus of 'yes!'s, some more excited than others, rang out.

"Awesome! You're mission is this", Hunter pulled a white board covered in paper over and dramatically ripped off a piece of paper off the board revealing the plan. A picture of you was stuck in the middle, "This", Hunter continued, "is Darius' new assistant." He pointed at you.

"Now, Darius likes his assistant and I mean likes them as more than his assistant."

"Wait!" Luz yelled, standing up excitedly, "Is our mission to play matchmaker with Darius and his assistant?!"

Hunter snapped his fingers at her, "Exactly! The plan is simple; 1. we slowly get Darius to start giving them gifts, something they like, small things at first, then they'll get bigger as it goes, 2. We get them as close as possible, that way they'll associate eachother with good things, like animals, and finally 3. Romance."

Everyone bar Amity cheered as Amity raised her hand, "Sorry just feel like I should point out that Darius' assistant is my auncle."

"Thats even better!" Gus exclaimed, "That way you can convince them to ask out Darius!"

Amity thought for a moment and then shrugged, "sure, what's the worse that could happen?"

The next day the plan was set into motion.

It began with Hunter lying on his dad's bed watching as he picked out a cloak.

"You know, I think your assistant would like that cloak, the purple one."

Darius held up the aforementioned cloak and hummed in thought, "Do you think so? Well I never where it anyone, I'm sure it would look good on them."

Amity had also made some progress on her half.

"You know, you and Headwitch Darius would make a really cute couple."

You sputtered indignantly for a few seconds, a light blush in your cheeks, "Really? Well, I don't know, maybe."

After a few more weeks of this, the group met up at the entrance of Hexside, Hunter and Amity sighed in disappointment.

"I'm gonna guess the plan didn't work?", Viney asked, watching as the two sunk to the ground.

"Yeah, I don't think it did." Amity groaned, her attempts to convince you of how cute you and Darius would be together didn't seem to go anywhere, just you laughing or waving her off.

"I'm honestly starting to think that Darius never liked them like that to begin with." Hunter sighed dejectedly, running a hand through his hair.

"Well at least you tried? I mean it could've gone worse." Willow supplied sitting next to her friends, the rest of the group nodded in agreement and Hunter and Amity couldn't help but agree.

"Yeah, they could've ended up hating eachother, I think its better they stayed friends", Gus said and hopped down the steps, "Well I gotta go now, see you all tomorrow!"

They all broke off one by one until Hunter and Amity remained, Hunter walking to the Abominations Coven and Amity to Blight Manor.

"I feel like this could've worked!", Amity muttered, "I mean they definitely seemed in love? Maybe we didn't try hard enough?"

Hunter shook his head, "No, I think Gus is right, if we pushed them too hard then they might have ended up hating eachother, it's best if they stay as friends."

The two walked in silence until Amity, split and began walking a different direction.

Hunter spent the rest of his walk to the Coven lost in his thoughts, he looked over his supposedly foolproof plan again in his mind. He reached the Abominations Coven still in his thoughts and walked to his dad's office.

He walked into the office without knocking and stopped dead in his tracks.

"Oh sweet Titan!"

"Hunter! Get out!"

The door was slammed shut with a blob of abomination as Hunter stood there with a look of horror on his face.

He wordlessly took his scroll out of this pockets and sat down on the floor.

He opened the groupchat and started typing.
